1) Grab a lot of kindling... oh, don't have any kindling.
Chop some wood to make a pile of kindling.
2) Grab a lot of newspaper... oh, don't have any.
Go through the recycle bin and find a lot of paper.
3) Now light it... oh, wait, it went out. Light it again but
in several places
and hope all the paper and kindling
doesn't burn down before the logs finally catch fire...
